Northeastern Swim Team participated in the SHRK Invitational in Farmington, Minn., Jan. 4-5.

Joey Vobr, earned a trio of bronze medals during the meet. The 14-year-old finished the girls 200-yard freestyle in 2:20.54, clocked in at 2:39.53 in the backstroke and posted a time of 2:27.90 in the individual medley. 

Placing first in the girls 11-12 100-yard breaststroke in 1:25.97 was Jaylee Vobr. She added individual titles in the 100-yard individual medley in 1:12.26 and the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:35.08, in which, she dropped 6.19 seconds.

Taking second in the girls’ 11-12 50-yard backstroke in 40.47 seconds was Isabella Sailor. She also had a pair of gold-medal performances, winning the 100-yard individual medley in 1:29.64 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:26.52. Sailor’s backstroke time was 4.46 seconds faster than her previous best.

Second place in the girls’ 8 and under 50-yard backstroke went to Lilly Sailor in 58.32 seconds and added a third-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke in 1:22.22.

Naomi Kutz claimed victory in the girls’ 11-12 100-yard backstroke in 1:29.55, dropping her time by 1.73 seconds. The 11-year-old also posted a second-place performance in the girls’ 500-yard freestyle in 7:53.95.

Winning several events in the senior boys’ division was Simon Kutz. The teen won gold in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.78, the 400-yard individual medley in 5:23.50, the 200-yard butterfly in 2:44.96, the 100-yard backstroke in 1:14.14 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:29.76. 

Dawson Irons took silver in the boys’ 9-10 50-yard breaststroke in 47.71 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:33.12.

It was a second place finish for Avalea Burns in the girls’ 11-12 50-yard butterfly with a time of 37.96 seconds. 

At the front of the boys’ 9-10 100-yard freestyle field was Dane Burns, who posted a time of 1:09.35. He added a time of 46.98 seconds in the 50-yard breaststroke and 35.10 seconds in the 50-yard butterfly for gold.

 Northeastern Swim Team will host a home meet Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Luther College Aquatic Center.
