The Northeastern Swim Team participated in the Splash Out Hunger Invitational Friday-Sunday, June 7-9, in Iowa City at Mercer Aquatic Center.

In addition to competing, swimmers helped to stock the summer food pantry for kids at Mark Twain Elementary in Iowa City.

Anna Knaack swam eight personal best times and earned four new state-qualifying times. She placed second in the 10 and under 50-meter backstroke with a time of 44.94 seconds. Knaack earned a second silver in the 200-meter individual medley dropping 4.72 seconds and finishing in 3:35.36. She also placed third in the 50- and 100-meter butterfly events.

Winning gold in the 50-meter breaststroke in 41.17 seconds was Katerina Kovarik. She also claimed bronze in the 50-meter butterfly.

Posting a time of 32.69 seconds in the 50-meter butterfly in first place was Margaret Rhodes. A time of 5:08.27 earned Rhodes third and she finished second in the 200-meter backstroke in 2:51.21.

Cole Huebner finished first in the 200-meter butterfly in 2:36.74 and added a second place in the 50-meter freestyle in 27.52 seconds. Huebner also claimed bronze in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:00.39.

Dropping 9.48 seconds from a previous best in the 400-meter freestyle was Simon Kutz, placing sixth in 5:42.08. During the course of the meet Kutz posted five personal best times in the water.

Sydney Thompson had two personal best times and placed second in both the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 48.83 seconds and the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 39.14 seconds. Thompson’s time of 3:37.54 earned her bronze in the 200-meter individual medley.

Placing second in the 50-meter butterfly in 55.80 seconds and third in the 200-meter freestyle in 3:26.87 was Garrett Vobr.

Jaylee Vobr touched the wall second in the 400-meter individual medley in a time of 6:31.20 and finished third in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 12:09.44. 

A time of 41.36 seconds earn Joey Vobr sixth place in the 50-meter backstroke. She had a two other sixth-place finishes in the 50-meter butterfly in 38.70 seconds and the 800-meter freestyle in 11:43.59.

Dawson Irons had two personal bests and placed third in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 1:00.23.

Reid Kuehner had a trio of personal best times, placing third in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 3:08.29 improving by 4.22 seconds.

Naomi Kutz had five personal best times. She dropped 8.58 seconds on the 100-meter freestyle and 4.30 seconds on the 50-meter butterfly.

Molly Kuehner had four personal best times and successfully completed the 50-meter Butterfly with a time of 1:10.30.
