The South Winn football team concluded its 2019 playoff bid Friday, Nov. 1, falling to MFL MarMac 60-24 on the road in the Class A first round.

The Bulldogs advance to the quarterfinals as hosts to Grundy Center Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.

“We struggled trying to slow down their running attack. Offensively we ran the ball with more success than in the first meeting, but we just couldn’t get any stops on defense to keep us in the game,” said Coach Jason Ohrt. “Overall, I am proud of our kids getting our program back to the postseason. At the end of the day, MFL was just a more physical and complete football team this season.”

The Warriors who finished the season 7-2 overall, will graduate nine seniors — Carter Wenthold, Noah Tieskoetter, Cayden Kleppe, Jaron Todd, Seth Greve, Zach Poshusta, Abe Schmitt, Kale Euans and Tony Hanson.
