With the postseason starting later in the week, the Decorah girls soccer team (4-11) picked up some momentum this week, splitting two games. 
Facing a veteran team Friday, May 23, the Vikings fell at home to Waverly-Shell Rock 6-0.
The Vikings had eight shots on goal. Jen Jenkins had three of them. Stef Bjerke had two, as did Lindsey Jones.
Goalie Olivia Rauk had 14 saves in goal.
They rebounded Tuesday, May 27, when they traveled to West Delaware and defeated the Hawks 5-2.
After a West Delaware goal, the Vikings responded when Kahler Folkedahl scored off an assist by Anja Arend. With the score tied at halftime, the Vikes went on a roll to open the second half. Jenkins scored first, assisted by Folkedahl. Cassie Bjerke put the ball in the net off an assist by Lauren Bruneau. Naomi Davidson scored unassisted, as did Folkedahl again. West Delaware scored the final goal.
The Vikings had 36 shots on goal, led by Arend with seven. Rauk served in goal, making three saves.
“The girls really stepped up the second half and really showed they wanted to win,” said Coach Kyrie Jorgenson.
The postseason starts Friday, May 30, at home against Waterloo East, beginning at 5 p.m.
