The Vikings will swim at the regional meet Saturday, Oct. 29, at 12 p.m. at Linn-Mar High School. This meet will help determine who qualifies for state. The regional diving competition is Thursday, Oct. 25, at Linn-Mar, beginning at 5 p.m.

New for 2018 is the addition of qualifying standards, which allows Iowa female swimmers do not have to wait until the regional meet to punch a ticket to the state meet, if she posts a time under the standard. There will be a field of 32 state qualifiers consisting of all swimmers that have met the qualifying standard (the swimmers must still compete in the event at the regional meet). Regional champions from each event will be automatic qualifiers with the rest of the field filled by the next fastest regional times of swimmers that did not meet the state standard.

Decorah will go up against Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Cedar Rapids Washington, Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Keokuk, Linn-Mar, Tipton and Waterloo East.

The state swim meet is Saturday, Nov. 3, at Marshalltown.
