A slow start, combined with serve-receive errors caused the Turkey Valley volleyball team (9-12, 1-3 UIC) to drop a tough five-set match to MFL MarMac (12-11, 5-1 UIC) at home Thursday. Set scores were 24-26, 25-21, 10-25, 24-25, 8-15.

“It was disappointing. Credit to MFL they came in to our gym and took this one. That being said, we lost this match ourselves, plain and simple. I’m more than a little frustrated with our serve receive. I will need to continue to evaluate and work to fix that on my end,” said Coach Ethan Adams. “We need to reduce our errors and play with more confidence. We show moments of great volleyball, and can really come together, but then we have streaks of too many mental errors that are costing us matches, not just sets, but matches. When it boils down to it, we need to be able to start these matches. Most coaches talk about finishing, but we wouldn’t have to worry so much about finishing matches if we would just come out and start one.”
