The Turkey Valley baseball team (4-20, 4-8 UIC) fell to Kee High and Riceville on the road recently.


Shortened night

The Trojans were able to get one game in at Kee High, falling 14-4 in six innings Monday night.

Kee High jumped out to a fast start, plating five runs in the first frame. TV scattered its four runs among the second, third and fourth frames, while holding the Hawks to single tallies in the second and third. Kee exploded for four more runs in the fourth and finished the game early with three runs in the sixth.

The loss went to Noah Hanson in his three innings while Sam Kout threw 2-1/3 innings of relief. The pair combined for four strikeouts.

As storms rolled into Northeast Iowa once again, game two was cut off in the top of the second with a 0-0 score on the board.

 

Last week

Turkey Valley traveled to Riceville (8-12) in nonconference action Friday, June 28, falling 7-3.

The Trojans led 3-2 heading into the sixth inning. But the Wildcats put together multiple hits and scored five runs to take the lead for good.

It was a six-hit contest for the Red and Black with Schmitt connecting for a triple, a double and driving in a run. Ethan Leibold had a double for TV as well. Providing the Trojans’ other three hits were Garrett Kurtenbach, Kannon Leuenberger and Eli Nymeyer.

Carter Reicks pitched 5-2/3 innings with three strikeouts. Schmitt threw in relief.

 

Later this week

Friday, July 5, Turkey Valley will visit Gladbrook-Reinbeck in a JV/varsity doubleheader at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, the Trojans will host a triangular with Kee High and West Fork. TV will play West Fork at 2 p.m., followed by a West Fork vs. Kee High matchup. At 6 p.m. the Trojans and Hawks will finish game two of the UIC twinbill.
