The Turkey Valley baseball team (4-4, 3-1 UIC) picked up two conference victories to finish the week, falling to Charles City but defeating Edgewood-Colesburg.
Saturday’s two games at the Crestwood tournament were cancelled due to rain and wet field conditions.

Out of the league
It was a slug-fest Wednesday night in Jackson Junction as the Trojans fell to Charles City (3-6) 14-10.
It was back and forth throughout the game. After three innings, it was tied 5-5. The Trojans took the lead in the fourth, 6-5. Each scored two in the fifth and Charles City tied the game in the sixth 10-10. Neither team scored in the seventh, forcing extra frames. Charles City scored four runs in the top of the eighth and held on for the win.
Turkey Valley had nine hits. Riley Busta was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Ryan Busta was 2-for-3 with three RBI and a home run. Luke Kuennen had two singles.
Five Trojans took the mound. Kyle Reicks took the loss. Justin Hackman, Michael Novotny, Riley Meirick and Evan Busta also threw in the game.
“We had opportunities to win the game offensively, defensively and pitching-wise but couldn’t get it done,” said coach Dan Stepan.
