The Decorah girls soccer team (1-1) picked up its first win of the season Saturday, defeating Dubuque Senior 2-1 on the road.
Decorah put a goal in the net when Lindsay Smith scored in the first half. However, the game was tied 1-1 at halftime. In the second half, Jen Jenkins scored the game winner.
Jenkins led the team in shots with four. Smith, Stef Bjerke and Anja Arend all had two while Kahler Folkedahl had one.
“The girls came out fired up to play. We got down by one goal early in the game but that didn’t stop us from playing hard the rest of the game,” said Coach Kyrie Jorgenson. “Lindsay Smith and Jen Jenkins both stepped up and got us two very important goals at crucial times.”
The JV team also won, defeating Dubuque Senior 4-0. Goals were scored by Kirstyn Samuelson, Abby Hudson and two by Natalie Heffern. Goalie Emily Womeldorf made three saves.
