The Decorah softball team (4-4, 3-4 NEIC) found plenty of offense, picking a 17-4 win over Waukon on the road Monday night.

Six first-inning runs propelled the Vikings past the Indians. The lead extended with four in the fifth frames and seven runs in the seventh to claim the big victory.

“Our defense was given some opportunities to see some different situations and we executed them very well,” said Coach Jill Christofferson.

As a team, the Vikes collected 16 hits. Accounting for three apiece were Ella Kittelson, Mya Numedahl and Katherine Bruening. Bryar Duwe pounded out a triple and had three RBI.

Avery Shelton went six innings, allowing seven hits and striking out four. Maddie Clement came in in relief.
