The Northeast Iowa Conference recognized three players on the Decorah boys’ basketball team for their contributions on the court on its All-Conference list last week. It is first-time honors for all three juniors —Patrick Bockman, Matthew Franzen and Logan Halverson.

Notching a second team nod as the Vikings’ scoring leader was Bockman, who averaged 10 points a night. He was 47.6 percent from the field (80-for-168) and was 45.5 percent from behind the arc and was 75.4 percent at the free throw line. Bockman handed out a team-high 73 assists and had 15 steals to go with five blocked shots. Averaging 4.0 rebounds per game, the junior guard pulled down 87 total boards (56 offensive, 120 defensive).

Franzen and Halverson received their first All-NEIC recognition on the honorable mention list.

Totaling 218 points and averaging 9.9 points per game, Franzen was second in scoring for Decorah. He was 82.6 percent from the charity stripe and dished out 50 assists. The junior led the Vikings in take-aways with 33 steals and ended the 2018-19 season with 59 total rebounds (12 offensive, 47 defensive).

Halverson was the main man under the basket, grabbing an average of 8.0 rebounds a night, totaling 176 boards (56 offensive, 120 defensive) throughout the season. He also led the Vikings with 10 blocked shots to accompany 38 assists and 16 steals. Offensively, the junior was third with a 9.2 average per night, hitting 65.1 percent of his shots on the floor.
