The Decorah girls’ swim and dive team picked a final regular season win Thursday night over Vinton-Shellsburg in the Luther pool, 120-59. In JV action, Decorah also won the meet 101-6.

Decorah won eight events in the varsity race and all of them in JV.

Coming through with individual golds were Margaret Rhodes, Paige Werner, Emily Voyna, Grace Bachelder, Katerina Kovarik and Brinley Krivachek. Rhodes touched the wall first in the 200 free, posting a time of 2:10.79. Werner stopped the clock at 1:08.14 in the 100 fly to claim her gold medal. In 58.68 seconds, it was Voyna racing to a first-place in the 100 free. Later in the 500 free, Bachelder rode the waves to a time of 6:06.56 for gold. In a time of 1:16.03, Kovarik was the 100 breast champions. In the diving competition, Krivachek was declared the champion with a point total of 211.95.

Two relays also struck gold. The 200 free relay quartet of Kiana Folkedahl, Maeley Nefzger, Kovarik and Julia Alberts touched the wall in 1:48.10. With a time of 3:56.01, Voyna, Werner, Alberts and Kovarik claimed the 400 free relay.

With the regular season concluded, Decorah turns its focus to the North Central Conference swim meet scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17. The Vikes will host the conference meet beginning at 11 a.m.
