An explosion of runs early gave the South Winn baseball team (15-6, 8-0 UIC) a 12-2 victory Wednesday night in Calmar over Turkey Valley (0-12, 0-4 UIC).

“It was good for our guys to get back on our home field and hopefully get some momentum going into a big UIC doubleheader versus Kee,” said Warrior head coach Alex Smith.

The Warriors took advantage of three walks and four singles to score four times in the first frame. Kalvin Langreck tried to get the Trojan offense fired up with a double in the second inning; however, he was left stranded.

South Winn piled on five runs in the third inning and three in the fourth. Turkey Valley’s Luke Mueller and Dalton Rush scored in the top of the fifth on Garrett Kurtenbach and Kannon Leuenberger’s singles.
