One local team lives to see another week of competition, while the other suffers heart break in the closing moments of the game Friday night.
The Decorah football team hosted Clear Creek-Amana in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs, coming out on top 17-6. The Vikings will now face Cedar Rapids Xavier Friday, Nov. 2, at a site to be announced.
Turkey Valley were also on their home turf, with Rockford invading their territory in a game that went back-and-forth in the 8-man postseason. With neither team taking a commanding lead during the contest, Rockford stopped the Trojans 64-58, scoring the final time with 25 seconds remaining on the clock. The loss knocks TV out of the 2018 postseason.
