The First United Methodist and St. Benedict Catholic Churches are hosting this year’s Decorah Area Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday, Nov. 22, starting at noon.

The main meal is being served at St. Benedict’s new Fellowship Hall at 307 West Main Street. Deliveries and carryouts will be prepared and sent out from the First United Methodist kitchen starting at 11 a.m.

The meal includes turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, dinner roll, pie and beverage. Attendees are asked to bring community spirit, willing hands, and, if possible, a covered dish to share.

Local home deliveries for shut-ins may be reserved by contacting Ranell at First UMC Office, from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, by calling 563-382-3835. Local transportation to-and-from the dinner is being provided with advance registration by calling the same number.

Volunteers are needed Wednesday, Nov. 21, to peel potatoes at 10 a.m. at the First UMC, and to debone turkeys at noon at the Luther College kitchen located in the Luther Union.

Volunteers also are needed on Thanksgiving Day to assist with transportation of people to and from the meal; working the delivery/carryout lines; delivering of carry-out meals; serving meals; and with cleanup. Those able to assist in any of these ways are asked to contact Ranell at 563-382-3835.

St. Benedict Church is handicapped accessible through the new Court Street entrance, and to First United Methodist Church at 302 West Broadway St.
