Join ArtHaus and Decorah Public Library to celebrate the 144th birthday of Constantin Brancusi—a Romanian sculptor, painter and photographer best known for his figurative sculptures – Friday, Feb. 21, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Children of all ages are invited to enjoy birthday cake (by the Sassy Baker) with the artist (who will be played by a local actor) as he talks about his life.

Participants will then create their own Brancusi-inspired sculpture.

Artist Birthday Parties have been hosted by ArtHaus and Decorah Public library since November 2019. So far, the community has celebrated the life and art of Rene Magritte, Joseph Cornell and Louise Bourgeouis.

“It’s a really interactive way to celebrate creativity,” says Children’s and Young Adult Librarian Rachael Button. “ArtHaus does an amazing job engaging participants, teaching art history and inviting children to become artists. We feel really fortunate to get to collaborate with ArtHaus on these events.”
Constantin Brancusi’s birthday celebration is free and open to the public.
