South Winn put all nine of its starters on the Upper Iowa Conference list as announced last week, along with two three Trojans.

First team

Five Warriors received first team nods, including Jaron Todd, Noah Tieskoetter, Kody Kleve, Seth Greve and Ethan Luzum.

Todd, a two-time all-UIC second team selection, moved to the first team for his senior campaign as the conference’s leader in the batting average category with a .462 mark with 36 hits, including three home runs, three triples and eight doubles to go with 16 stolen bases. His .756 slugging percentage is also the best in the UIC. While anchoring second base for much of the season, Todd also made 12 appearances on the hill, picking up two saves in his 20 innings pitched, allowing 16 hits and struck out 20 batters.

Earning his third All-UIC and his second time on the first team list is Tieskoetter. He has recorded 48 strikeouts during his senior campaign to this point with an ERA of 1.25 and a 5-0 record. Batting .325 with a slugging percentage of .494, Tieskoetter has 27 hits, including one home run, three triples and five doubles with 16 RBI. On the field, the senior has recorded 18 stolen bases.

Donning the catcher’s gear, the majority of the time for the Warriors, Kleve picks up his second first-time all-UIC honor. Also a senior, Kleve is batting .328 with a team-high 30 RBI with 22 hits, including a pair of dingers and four doubles. Climbing the hill for three contests, Kleve has garnered a 2.33 ERA and struck out 14 batters.

Moving from second team to first team for his senior season is Greve. The first baseman is batting .444 with an on-base percentage of .540, with 26 RBI. Of Greve’s 36 hits, nine have been for extra bases.

Luzum makes his second consecutive appearance on the all-UIC first team list for his efforts on the mound and shortstop. The junior has a 5-1 season pitching record with an earned run average (ERA) 1.09 with conference-best 57 strikeouts. At the plate, Luzum tallied 10 hits including three doubles for a .308 average and .385 slugging mark.

Second team

Honored on the second team were South Winn outfielders Cael Kuboushek and Carter Wenthold, along with Trojan Noah Hanson.

An honorable mention selection a year ago, Kuboushek has connected for 29 hits including a homer, a triple and seven doubles with 27 RBI to post a .345 average and .488 slugging mark. Racing along the base paths, he has a team-high 19 stolen bases. The junior has also made seven appearances on the pitcher’s mound with a 5-0 record with an ERA of .80 and 19 strikeouts.

Anchoring centerfield, Wenthold also moves up from an honorable mention nod last season with 29 put-outs. Having climbed the hill four times, the senior has an ERA of .70 and seven Ks.

Hanson earns his first all-UIC nod for his efforts in the positions of pitcher and catcher for the Trojans. On the mound, the freshman threw 18 innings, recording 15 strikeouts and posting a 2.72 ERA. He was second on the squad with a .306 batting average with 11 hits.

Honorable mention

Receiving honorable mention for South Winn were juniors Jacob Herold and Briar Tigges, while Keegan Balk and Seth Huinker were selected to represent Turkey Valley. It’s the first time any of them have been honored.

Through 24 games, Herold has 17 hits for six RBI with 13 stolen bases as the Warriors’ left fielder. Tigges has 12 hits through his 23 games for the Warriors with 1 double and 12 RBI to go with seven stolen bases.

For Turkey Valley, Balk, a senior, shouldered duties at shortstop and led the Trojans with a .318 batting average, having pounded out 14 hits, including three doubles. Fellow senior, Huinker provided a .229 average with 11 hits, including four doubles, driving in eight hits.
