Grace Gerleman of Decorah was recently awarded the title of Winneshiek County Miss Teen United States Agriculture. Gerleman is the daughter of Myles and Connie Gerleman and a junior at Decorah High School. She is actively involved in FFA.

“I’m very excited to be representing Winneshiek County and the agriculture community,” she said. “Throughout the year I really want to advocate for mental health within agriculture. I look forward to attending farm visits, community programs and outreach sessions.”

Contestants will travel from all over the Midwest to Maryville, Mo, the weekend of November 21 to compete for the honor to reign as a state Miss United States Agriculture Queen.

State Director Holly Hatfield notes “the idea behind the program is to celebrate the agriculture industry and our local farmers, all while promoting self-esteem, building strong leaders and awarding scholarships.” The group’s vision states they are “an advocacy program for women to teach and enhance the American agriculture story.”
